In addition to working on the architectural design of diverse projects from private housing to public facilities such as the
F-HOUSE, Shiroishi Municipal No.2 Elementary School and Katta Public General Hospital, Ashihara has been actively engaged in urban redevelopment projects and development of products in many other areas.
Taro Ashihara has received numerous awards including the JIA Prize for the Best Young Architect '93, 1998 Annual Architectural Design Commendation of AIJ, BCS Prize 93'.
Ashihara has undertaken various social commitments by giving university lectures and serving as members and judges of many committees including the Good Design Award judge.



Public facilities, through architecture, seek to play a role in the formulation of local community and culture by merging the vision of future lifestyle of each individual with tradition that should be preserved in the locality. KUZUU DENSHO KAN was designed as a museum to exhibit, catalog and convey Kuzuu' s unique traditional culture as it relates to people living in the present day.
A home is where family members are grounded, a place second to none. The ideal home is envisioned through in-depth dialogue with the client, and the natural environment out of doors is incorporated into the house in an attempt to provide the space for a simple, quality lifestyle.
